Valentine's Day: Decor

Other than for Christmas, I didn't really pay much attention to holiday decor until I got on #Pinterest .

Here are some cute ideas that I've come across for Valentine's Day:

Now I've been noticing a new ministry called NOTW.  I've seen this acronym a lot lately on t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc.

NOTW stands for Not of this World and is taken from Jesus' words: "They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world." ~John 17:16.

Encouragement for Singles

With Valentine's Day coming up, I just wanted to encourage the singles out there! I know it can be tough when it seems like everybody and their momma is boo'd up.

Andrea Regalado posted two awesome guest blogs on Tia & Tamera's website. Check them out below...

I could definitely relate to everything Andrea was saying. Here's the comment I wrote:

I love this Andrea! You should write a book :) I'm not single, but I was for a lonnng time. So long, that I think some of my friends were actually surprised when I finally did start dating someone seriously. I remember what it was like when I was single and I was often annoyed by others who inquired about my love life. Even people I love very much would unknowingly make me feel bad by their comments. One comment was, "When are you going to get a man?" This would really bother me when it came from someone who had been in a messy relationship. I'd be thinking, "Uh, I'm not trying to end up in your situation." LOL! But seriously, I thought they would have been the one to encourage me. Maybe instead saying something like, "Girl, don't rush. Take your time!" Another example is when someone would tell me that they mentioned me to a guy and now he wants to meet me. As a friend, I would have liked for them to speak to me first about him so I can decide if I want to meet him. That was such an awkward feeling having a guy (one I didn't even know if I liked or not) already know things about me. Anyways, I am now happily married to someone who God hooked me up with. My hubby and I met without the help of anyone. It was meant to be and I thank God everyday for him! He's my soul mate :)

If you are single, remember this:

1) You don't need anyone but Jesus. Can I get an "Amen?!"

2) If you want to be in a fulfilling relationship, continue to trust in God.  He knew who He wanted you to be with before you were even born. That's deep!  Believe that you are right where you need to be.  Let God lead you to the right person and be thankful that He's protecting your heart. I know it's easier said than done, but stay encouraged!

Here is a great article about being single and enjoying this season of your life - The Blessings of Loneliness by Sabrina Beasley.

Just a little something to brighten your day. . .

Revelations: Desires and Dreams

"Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this. . ."  ~Psalm 37:4-5

This is one of my favorite #Psalms and I am often encouraged by it. I especially love the part that says, "He will give you the desires of your heart."

The Holy Spirit reminded me one day that this not only meant that He would give me the desires of my heart - meaning that He would bring them to pass.  He also reminded me that He gives me the desires of my heart - meaning that He actually puts those desires in my heart.

You see, I have very high hopes and dreams; and sometimes I wonder when they will come true and how they will happen.  I have even wondered why I have those dreams, hopes, and desires in the first place.

God was just reminding me that there is a reason why I want those things. He knows what I am capable of achieving and He wants the best for me.

I was so pleased when this was revealed to me and it made me want to dream on.

Keep dreaming! Dream BIG!

"Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us; unto Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." ~Ephesians 3:20-21

Oprah's Lifeclass: Brené Brown

I often think about Oprah's Lifeclass with Brené Brown. It was about vulnerability. Honestly, at first the topic didn't seem interesting to me and I wasn't going to watch the show because I had never even heard of Brené Brown. But I'm so glad I did.

The more she spoke about being vulnerable, the more I realized how guarded I can be. I learned that you have to be vulnerable if you want to be great. Someone has to step out. We can't all be scared to try new things and we can't be afraid to fail, or afraid of what others might say or think. I have learned that we must be willing to "put ourselves out there" if we want to be used by God and become all that He has destined us to be.  So let's not live in fear!
