Preachers of L.A.

I like reality shows, but I have to admit that I was a little skeptical of #PreachersofLA.  That was before I started watching it.  It is now one of my favorite TV shows.

I absolutely LOVE the theme song too!!!  Great job +Gabe Roland♫♪

You can see Preachers of LA on +Oxygen Media, Wednesdays at 10/9c.
Oh, and shout out to First Lady Myesha (wife of Pastor +Wayne Chaney)! Thanks for following me on #Twitter :) God Bless!

Revelations: Praise Him In Advance

Pastor Marvin Sapp has a song called, "Praise Him In Advance" and I had the opportunity to see/hear him perform it live at a gospel concert.  This was a few years ago.

I love the message in that song and I thought about it the other day.

Whenever I start to worry, doubt, or get anxious about something, the Holy Spirit snaps me out of it by reminding me that this negative thinking is not of God.  I am more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37) and Jesus already said I don't ever have to worry about anything! (Matthew 6:25-34)

To me, worry, doubt, anxiousness, even nervousness are all branches of fear; and "God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
(2 Timothy 1:7)

Remember that the devil is a liar (John 8:44), but Jesus is the Way, the TRUTH, and the Life (John 14:6).  We know our Father's voice.

So the next time we start having doubtful thoughts, then we should immediately start believing and thanking God for the opposite.  Let's praise Him in advance!

Below is a chart with some examples and scriptures that can help you:

Okay, back to the concert - it was awesome!  Marvin Sapp sung a lot of his popular songs and he didn't just do a quick medley.  He really ministered to the audience.  Marvin Sapp was the headliner, but the concert also included Ted Winn, Brian Courtney Wilson, and Myron Butler & Levi.

Here are my favorite songs that each artist performed. . .

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

The #icebucketchallenge is a brilliant campaign that has raised awareness worldwide about ALS as well as money to research and find a cure.

Here is a video playlist of some of my favorite celebrity ice bucket challenges. Enjoy!

#alsicebucketchallenge

What is ALS?

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons  die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.

What's Hot Now: Heaven Knows / Anymore

These brothas are smooth!

"Heaven Knows" by Noel Gourdin

"Anymore" by Eric Roberson

Okay, now I know why I'm feelin' this song.  I found out that Eric Roberson has worked a lot with DJ Jazzy Jeff and contributed to his "The Magnificent" album back in 2002.

Jazz is one of my favorite DJs.  Very underrated.

And his Magnificent album was just that!

Time to reminisce.  Here are a few songs from the album.  Thank you to those who uploaded them!

I used to bump these in college. . . Ah, memories!

Shout out to my brother, +TFIGBassPlayer (a musical genius in my opinion) for telling me about this album when it first came out!  He definitely knows good music ♫♪

Footprints in the Sand

Footprints in the Sand
by: Mary Stevenson

One night a woman had a dream. She dreamed
she was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from her life.
For each scene she noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to her, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of her life flashed before her, she looked back at the footprints in the sand.

She noticed that many times along the path of
her life there was only one set of footprints.

She also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in her life.

This really bothered her and she
questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, You said that once I decided to follow
You, You'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed You most You would leave me."

The LORD replied:

"My daughter, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

Robin Williams (1951 - 2014)

Brilliant Comedian, Actor, Hollywood Legend

I was sad to hear that someone who brought so much laughter and joy to others was suffering from depression.

Mrs. Doubtfire is one of my favorite movies!  It's one of those feel-good movies that I can watch anytime.

There are a number of other Robin Williams movies that I like and I can't say enough about how talented he was.

Rest in peace Robin. You will truly be missed!

Jam of the Week: 2nd Win

I can't believe this song dropped a few months ago and I just heard it last week!  Thank God for Kirk Franklin's Praise on +SiriusXM !

I LOVE it!!!

"2nd Win" is written/performed by Kierra Sheard and produced by her brother, J. Drew.

Kierra is one of my favorite singers and she comes from a family of gospel legends.  Oh, and I love how her brother added The Clark Sisters to the background of the song too.  Awesome track!  I want to be in the music video :)
