Seen Any Good Movies Lately?

Saturday, January 10, 2015

Bravo director Ava DuVernay, David Oyelowo, Oprah Winfrey, and the rest of the #Selma cast!  This movie actually started out with a 100% rating on the Rotten Tomatoes website.  I don't remember seeing a movie with a review that high on that website before.  Pretty awesome!

I saw Get On Up yesterday and it was awesome!  I think I might go see it again. The music makes you want to do just what the movie title says.  Chadwick Boseman did an outstanding job playing James Brown!!!  He had his dance moves, voice, walk, and mannerisms down!  He should have at least got an Oscar nomination.

I loved Thor: The Dark World and I liked the way Thor teamed up with his brother, Loki. Looking forward to the next Avengers too!

Watch the video below for a fun fact about the Thor movie.

I really enjoyed #ThinkLikeAManToo which is a sequel to the first movie that's based on Steve Harvey's book, "Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man."  It is a feel-good movie and I actually liked it better than the first one.  I'm looking forward to purchasing it when it comes out on DVD!

Kevin Hart is hilarious and he's had an amazing year! Seems like there is a new movie trailer with him in it every time I go to the theater. I'm happy for him :)
Do your thang Kev!

Here are some pictures of the all-star cast. They look like they had fun working on this movie together.

The lovely ladies of TLAM2

Gary Owen is hilarious too!

Glad to see Nia Long on the big screen again.  She, like so many other African American actresses, deserves it!

The Gabby Douglas Story was inspirational and very well done!  Regina King and Imani Hakim (Everybody Hates Chris) do an excellent job.

I'm proud of #GabbyDouglas and all of her history-making success!  And I just love how her last name scrambled reads, "USA Gold."   #Fate  #GoGoldOrGoHome

Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor

Sunday, January 5, 2014

This past weekend I saw Saving Mr. Banks starring Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks. It tells the story of how Walt Disney had to convince P.L. Travers to let him have the rights to Mary Poppins. I really enjoyed it and if you love Disney and/or Mary Poppins you will too! Oh, and Emma Thompson is brilliant as P.L. Travers and I hope she gets an Oscar nom. Yes, it's that good! One of my favorite actors from the television show, The West Wing also stars in the movie - Bradley Whitford.

Check out Tom Hanks as Walt Disney:
